Bargaining Bulletin #45
Thursday, April 23, 2009
We met with the company in both subcommittee and formal session. The Employment Security/Force movement subcommittee continued discussion on converting terms to regular employees as well as AUTS. In the formal session we received the company’s response to some of our information requests. There are still several questions outstanding and we are scheduled to meet again tomorrow. We have seen the recent company report regarding their healthcare proposals. We are certain you can read between the lines and see that new employees and retirees are left out entirely and that their plan includes deductibles and out of pocket costs even for current employees. The company is more concerned with shifting costs to you than saving money. We also find it ludicrous that the company would suggest that medical costs could drive them toward “bailout” status. This is the 7th largest company in the world, is highly profitable and more than capable of providing its employees and retirees with the benefits we deserve.
Our reports are the only source for accurate information.
Keep the pressure on! The company is feeling the heat, together we must convince them that they need to change course and negotiate a fair and just contract.
STRIKE STANDBY DAY 19!
